It's hard to believe but I am now down to 2 classes left of my first quarter of Drawing class. I finished my final earlier today. The final assignment was a life sized self portrait. Seriously! I have never done a drawing so large and I can tell you for a fact I never will again! It took forever - I'm talking more hours than it took for me to give birth! Another part of my final was to pick 5 of my best drawings and put together a portfolio. I had to write a final paper on my portfolio with a paragraph on each drawing. As promised, I took pictures of these drawings and I am posting them, along with the concept we were studying at the time. Keep in mind they are all charcoal drawings, so the pictures don't actually pick up all the different tones and subtlies. They will, however, give you a general idea of my drawings. I have no idea why the date stamp says 2006 lol I took the pictures yesterday.
scotty - Thank you! The third one is actually my second best. The life sized self portrait is my favorite. It looks enough like me that I didn't want to post it though. If you would like to see it leave me your email and I will send it to you.
rv - Welcome! The only medium we were allowed to use this session was charcoal. I must admit I got pretty sick of the black and white by the end of the 10 weeks. Next session is pen and ink, then the third session we can finally start with color!
scotty - I emailed it. Let me know if you don't recieve it.
rwa - Thank you! I am doing the one from your photograph next. I still haven't decided between the single leaf laying on the weathered wood or the bench with the flowers growing through it. I love, love the tortoises. I wish you would have gotten one with a clear shot of his face! I bet he was awesome! Btw, I sent the self portrait to you also.
I love that you are in art class and sharing your work with us! It's really great :-) Enjoy black and white while you can... Color throws in a whle new level of issues to address!
I went to art school and you are making me feel so nostalgic! I concentrated in ceramics, but love to draw and paint too.
Isn't it nice when a self portrait looks like you? That always makes me so happy.

when darkness falls... - You have incredible talent. Are you hoping to become a "starving artist" and market your paintings and drawings at exhibits?
Beautiful work.
You are a gifted girl, Darkness. Truly gifted.
